How To Defeat Valkyrie Hildr In God of War
Hildr is the Valkyrie hidden within Niflheim and is often considered one of the easier Valkyrie fights.
Quick Answer
Hildr is the Valkyrie hidden within Niflheim and is often considered one of the easier Valkyrie fights. To reach her, follow the left side of Niflheim's maze from the central workshop area and push through to the left field section.
During the fight, focus on parrying her dash attacks, blocking her wing combos and ice projectiles, and dodging her unblockable attacks. Entering the battle with full Runic Attacks, Spartan Rage, and a Resurrection Stone makes the encounter much easier.

Full Guide Intro
Hildr is the Valkyrie found deep within Niflheim. While she is still a dangerous opponent, many players find her more manageable than other Valkyries because the challenges of Niflheim itself help sharpen your combat skills before reaching her.
The biggest obstacle is often reaching the arena through the mist-covered maze. Once you arrive, success comes down to recognizing her attack patterns and responding correctly.
How To Find Hildr
From the central workshop area in Niflheim, head left toward the third base section of the maze.
Continue through the third base area toward the second base route. In the safe zone between these sections, turn left and enter the left field area.
Ignore enemies along the way and focus on reaching the Valkyrie's chamber before the mist becomes a problem.
Prepare Before The Fight
Before challenging Hildr, make sure you:
- Fill both Runic Attack meters
- Fill your Spartan Rage meter
- Bring a Resurrection Stone
Opening the fight with multiple Runic attacks can remove a large portion of her health before she begins attacking.
Spartan Rage is also extremely useful because it both deals damage and restores health.
Parry Her Dash Attacks
One of the best opportunities for damage comes from Hildr's dash attacks.
When she slides across the arena toward Kratos, raise your shield and time a parry as she closes the distance.
A successful parry stuns her and creates a large opening for follow-up attacks.
Because she frequently uses this move, learning the timing can make the entire fight significantly easier.
Handle Her Ice Projectiles
Hildr often attacks from range using ice-based projectiles.
Her smaller snowball attacks can be blocked safely with your shield.
After firing several smaller projectiles, she may launch a larger ice attack marked by a red warning circle. This attack cannot be blocked.
When you see the red indicator, dodge left or right to avoid the attack entirely.
Watch For The Energy Blast
Another ranged attack begins with the same red warning circle but ends with a yellow burst of energy moving across the battlefield.
Like the large ice attack, this move cannot be blocked.
Dodge sideways as soon as the attack begins and wait for the attack sequence to finish before counterattacking.
Shoot Her Out Of The Air
When Hildr takes flight, immediately command Atreus to fire arrows at her.
In some cases, the arrows can interrupt the attack and force her back to the ground.
If she continues the attack and begins an unblockable dive, watch for the red warning circle and dodge as soon as she starts descending.
Block Her Wing Combos
At close range, Hildr uses wing attacks similar to several other Valkyries.
These attacks can be blocked safely with your shield.
Allow the full combo to finish before retaliating. Once the sequence ends, you'll have a brief opening to deal damage before returning to defense.

Best Strategy

Stay patient, block what can be blocked, dodge unblockable attacks, and let her create openings rather than forcing aggressive attacks.
Rewards

- Heart of the Valkyrie
- Asgardian Steel
- Perfect Asgardian Steel
- Cuirass of the Valkyrie

Tips
If you've spent time farming Niflheim, you're already practicing many of the skills needed to beat Hildr. Fast reactions, parries, and efficient damage windows all carry over directly into this fight.
Don't rush. Hildr becomes much easier when you focus on defense first and damage second.

Best Early Talismans In God of War
Two of the strongest early talismans in God of War are the Golden Talisman of Protection and the Amulet of Kvasir. The Golden Talisman can be found shortly after reaching the Lake of Nine at Stone Falls, while the Amulet of Kvasir becomes available after reaching Alfheim.
