Full Guide Intro

Earning the Platinum Trophy in God of War requires completing nearly every major activity in the game. You'll need to finish the story, defeat powerful optional bosses, explore hidden areas, collect dozens of collectibles, and fully upgrade several pieces of equipment.

The good news is that nothing is permanently missable, making post-game cleanup straightforward.

Platinum Overview

To unlock the Platinum Trophy, you'll need to earn every other trophy in the game.

This includes:

  • Story progression trophies
  • Collectible trophies
  • Exploration trophies
  • Upgrade trophies

Many of these will unlock naturally while playing through the campaign.

  • Feels Like Home
  • Dragon Slayer
  • Troubling Consequences
  • Hello, Old Friend
  • Promise Fulfilled
  • Round 2
  • Past Haunts
  • Twilight Beckons
  • Last Wish

Simply completing the main campaign will unlock all of these.

Side Quest And Exploration Trophies

Several trophies require completing favors and optional content.

Favors

  • Like Oil and Water — Complete all Brok and Sindri favors
  • Unfinished Business — Help all wayward spirits

Exploration

  • Death Happened Here — Explore Veithurgard
  • Dangerous Skies — Free all dragons
  • Beneath the Surface — Explore the Lake of Nine
  • Trilingual — Learn the languages of Muspelheim and Niflheim

These objectives are excellent goals to tackle during post-game exploration.

Valkyrie Trophies

The Valkyries are among the toughest challenges in the game.

Chooser Of The Slain

Defeat all nine Valkyries, including the Valkyrie Queen Sigrun.

Most players leave this trophy for late-game or post-game content after obtaining stronger gear and upgrades.

Collectible Trophies

Several trophies are tied to collecting hidden items throughout the world.

Allfather Blinded

Destroy all 51 Odin's Ravens.

Curator

Collect every Artifact.

Treasure Hunter

Find every treasure map dig spot.

The Truth

Read every Jotnar Shrine.

Collectible cleanup is usually easiest after completing the story when all regions are accessible.

Several trophies focus on improving Kratos and Atreus.

  • Dwarven Ingenuity
  • Best Dressed
  • Enchanted
  • The Best Moves
  • Idunn's Orchard

  • Belt of the Ancients

Path Of The Zealot

Both sets require materials earned from specific enemy types found throughout the game.

Endgame Trophies

Several trophies are best completed after the story.

  • Dragon rescues
  • Niflheim objectives

Completing these activities naturally leads most players toward Platinum completion.

Platinum Trophy

Father And Son

Earn every other trophy in God of War.

Once all story, exploration, collectible, combat, and upgrade trophies have been unlocked, the Platinum Trophy will automatically be awarded.

Missables

None.

All trophies can be earned after completing the main story, making God of War a very forgiving Platinum Trophy experience.

Tips

Don't worry about collecting everything during your first visit to an area. Many collectibles become easier to obtain later once additional story progression unlocks new paths and tools.

Save the Valkyries for late-game progression. Stronger gear and upgraded abilities make these encounters far more manageable, especially the battle against Sigrun.

What To Do After Beating God of War

After finishing God of War, there is still plenty left to do. Players can challenge the Valkyries, explore Muspelheim and Niflheim, complete unfinished Favors, free optional dragons, start New Game+, and take on the powerful Valkyrie Queen.

Many of the game's toughest battles, best rewards, and most challenging content are found after the main story ends, making the post-game one of the most rewarding parts of the adventure.

Bosses & Combat

How To Defeat Valkyrie Queen Sigrun In God of War

The best way to defeat Sigrun, the Valkyrie Queen in God of War, is to arrive fully prepared with upgraded gear, maximum health, strong runic attacks, and abilities that can slow time. Before challenging her, defeat all other Valkyries and place their helmets in the throne circle to unlock the fight.

Because Sigrun uses abilities from every other Valkyrie, she is dangerous at both close and long range. Strong runic builds, healing effects, and careful timing are key to surviving one of the hardest boss fights in the game.

Locations & Collectibles

All Odin's Raven Locations In God of War

There are 51 Odin's Ravens hidden throughout God of War. They are spread across Midgard, Alfheim, Helheim, optional regions around the Lake of Nine, and several Valkyrie chambers.

Many Ravens can be found during the main story, but some require late-game abilities or story progression. Completing the collection requires revisiting earlier areas and exploring optional regions thoroughly.

Systems & Mechanics

How To Get The Shattered Gauntlet Of Ages In God of War

The Shattered Gauntlet of Ages is obtained during Family Business, a Favor from Sindri in Northri Stronghold. The Favor becomes available after completing Fafnir's Storeroom and the story chapter The Sickness.

When fully upgraded and equipped with specific enchantments, the talisman becomes a reference to Thanos' Infinity Gauntlet, gaining a powerful enemy-seeking projectile attack.

Bosses & Combat

How To Defeat Valkyrie Rota In God of War

Rota is the Helheim Valkyrie in God of War and relies heavily on aerial attacks, unblockable dives, and a devastating head stomp. The key to victory is learning her attack patterns, blocking her ranged projectiles, dodging her dive attacks, and punishing her whenever she lands.

Before the fight, fill your Runic Attack meters, enter with a full Spartan Rage bar, and bring a Resurrection Stone. Most of Rota's attacks leave her vulnerable for a short time after they finish.

Bosses & Combat

How To Defeat Valkyrie Hildr In God of War

Hildr is the Valkyrie hidden within Niflheim and is often considered one of the easier Valkyrie fights. To reach her, follow the left side of Niflheim's maze from the central workshop area and push through to the left field section.

During the fight, focus on parrying her dash attacks, blocking her wing combos and ice projectiles, and dodging her unblockable attacks. Entering the battle with full Runic Attacks, Spartan Rage, and a Resurrection Stone makes the encounter much easier.
